About Me
Psychotherapist, Counsellor, Musician, Researcher, Consultant.
My name is Dr Adam Ficek and I have been involved in the music industry for 25 years as a performing artist and DJ. I have toured the world extensively at top level (EMI/Parlophone/Rough Trade) as a solo artist, band member and DJ, with various top ten 10 releases. I contribute extensively to various media outlets regarding musicians and mental health (see media page) from my clinical and musician perspective.
Additionally to my musical pursuits I have completed a Doctorate in Psychotherapy (publishing within the area of musicians and mental health), a five year MSc and two clinical, post graduate diplomas alongside EMDR and sensorimotor qualifications. I have wide experience in both the NHS, addiction and private mental health settings and currently work with BAPAM, Help Musicians and Tonic Music as a consultant and peer group facilitator. I am currently involved with research projects in collaboration with Portsmouth University alongside publishing my own research in the Journal of Music, health and Wellbeing.
