We are not affiliated with any corporate entities which allows us to deliver an objective, discreet and ethical perspective on psychological and emotional health and wellbeing.

Dr Adam Ficek, founder of Music and Mind is a highly sought after consultant, researcher and psychotherapist in the musician, music industry and mental health ecosystem. He is passionate about developing effective resources and strategies within the demanding environments of performers, creatives and music industry personnel. Adam has a background in the music industry as a performer, educator, researcher and clinician and contributes extensively to various media outlets regarding musicians, creatives and mental health (see media page). Dr. Claire Bloxsom is a highly experienced trainer in psychology and mental health and has been involved in University level teaching and research in psychology and mental health since 2004. Claire runs her own private clinical psychotherapy practice as a UKCP Registered/accredited integrative psychotherapist. Clinically, Claire is passionate about the creative arts and the influence of music on wellbeing and mental health within the occupational environment. This is coupled with vast experience supporting diverse clients within the gay, bisexual, queer and lesbian communities. Claire is a singer and composer and is involved in independently released music projects, she is a PRS member, and she has a personal understanding of the positive effects of musicking for psychological wellbeing. Claire holds the following qualifications and accreditations;

Dr Mike Akroyd  (Psychiatrist)

Dr Mike Akroyd is a consultant psychiatrist with 19 years of experience in the NHS. Mike has extensive experience of working with a variety of mental health difficulties, and has combined his passion for mental health with a love of teaching, an area in which he has published articles and textbook chapters.  Music is a key part of his life, and he has performed solo and as part of a group. Mike holds the following qualifications:
